Metzelder undergoes nose surgery |
MADRID, Spain (AP) -Real Madrid defender Christoph Metzelder underwent surgery on Monday to repair a broken nose. The Germany international was injured during Saturday's 1-0 win over Valencia. He was elbowed by Valencia defender Raul Albiol as the two battled for the ball. Metzelder is expected to play with a specially fitted protective mask for at least a month. Fifth-place Madrid trails Spanish leader Barcelona by 12 points going into the two-week Christmas break.  |
