With the playoffs looming, several teams staked their claims to the top spots in their respective states last weekend. In Florida, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) blew out Deerfield Beach, 65-10. In Texas, Trinity (Euless) and Lake Travis (Austin) are still the best, but Allen (Texas) made a play for consideration with its 56-23 win over previously-ranked Plano (Texas).

When you take down previously-ranked Plano (Texas) 56-23, you deserve a spot in the rankings. Such is the case for the Eagles, who took off on the wings of quarterback Matt Brown (159 passing yards and four touchdowns). The dual threat also totaled 137 yards and scored a rushing touchdown.
