25 It's not the trade everybody is waiting for, but they added Stromile Swift in a deal with the Grizzlies for Jason Collins. Maybe Swift can get them fired up and back on track ... umm, or maybe not.
19 They missed Michael Redd (left knee strain) in Saturday's loss to the Rockets, their third straight and seventh in nine games. At least Desmond Mason (thumb) is back in the lineup after being out since late December.
23 Add Gasol to Garnett on the Windy City's list of big ones who got away. Meanwhile, the return of Ben Gordon (wrist) couldn't prevent Saturday's loss at Sacramento as they fell to 0-2 on their six-game Western trip.
24 What kind of reaction will KG get in his return to the Twin Cities on Friday? At least Minnesota fans can smile a little, with their Wolves having gone 5-5 over their last 10 games to gain a small measure of respectability again.
30 Perhaps they picked up a cue from the Wolves. After suffering through a franchise-record 14-game losing streak, they turned around and beat the Spurs, Cavs and Knicks last week to win three straight for the first time all season.
20 They lost at Seattle on Saturday to finish 0-5 on their West Coast road trip. We'd say Isiah Thomas is glad to be headed home, but given all those Madison Square Garden boo-birds, it might not be the case.
26 Saturday's setback to the Magic was their sixth straight and dropped them to 0-3 on their current homestand. They better get moving if they want to take advantage of a February schedule that features nine of 13 at home.
28 Will Elton Brand replace Gasol and Garnett as the next All-Star power forward on the trade market? Will Sam Cassell be sent packing before the deadline? Stay tuned, because you have to figure something is going to happen.
29 As if 18 losses in 19 games weren't bad enough ... Shaquille O'Neal's All-Star run is history, and Pat Riley received the most votes for "coach you'd least like to play for" in a recent SI Players Poll.
27 The decision to say goodbye to Gasol means the white flag has been raised over the Fed Ex Forum. They might not actually be this bad, but for this week at least they are down here as a symbolic statement.
