It's not like you couldn't see the 'Dores' letdown at Mississippi State coming, but 107 yards of total offense? Seriously? Barring a dramatic turnaround Saturday at Georgia, Vandy's moment in the spotlight may be on its last legs. Last game: Lost to Mississippi State, 17-14. Next game: Saturday at Georgia. |

Like I said, it's slim pickings in the lower-fifth of the poll this week, so the Jayhawks make what will likely be a temporary return following a solid performance against Colorado. RB Jake Sharp's three touchdowns were a nice boost. Last game: Beat Colorado, 30-14. Next game: Saturday at Oklahoma. |

Until Western Kentucky's touchdown in the final 58 seconds Saturday, the Cardinals had gone nearly two full games without allowing a point. It undoubtedly helps to have a 32-year-old former marine lining up for your defense. Last game: Beat Western Kentucky, 24-7. Next game: Oct. 25 vs. Eastern Michigan. |

It took an unbelievable play by QB David Johnson to avoid a possible upset by 1-5 SMU. Down seven and facing a fourth-and-21 at SMU's 33, Johnson hit WR Trae Johnson in between two defenders for a game-tying touchdown. Last game: Beat SMU, 37-31. Next game: Saturday vs. UTEP. |

Believe it or not, the Jackets needed a tipped field goal with three seconds left to survive Gardner-Webb. Down to third-string QB Calvin Booker, Tech's triple-option offense was non-functional, gaining just 79 rushing yards. Last game: Beat Gardner-Webb, 10-7. Next game: Saturday at Clemson. |
