RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (AP) -- Hall of Famer George Brett and his brother are buying the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, adding another minor league team to their portfolio.

The sale of the Class A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels is expected to close this summer, team president and majority owner Hank Stickney said Tuesday.

The deal is subject to the approval of the California League, minor league baseball and Major League Baseball.

George and Bobby Brett lead ownership groups that control the Spokane (Wash.) Chiefs of the Western Hockey League, the Bellingham (Wash.) Bells baseball team of the West Coast League and the High Desert Mavericks, another California League team. The brothers each have a team in the Northwest League, too.

The Quakes moved from San Bernardino to Rancho Cucamonga in 1993. The team has led the California League in attendance every year of its existence.
