DETROIT (AP) -- Scott Podsednik rejoined the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, agreeing to a minor league contract one day after center fielder Dewayne Wise separated a shoulder. Podsednik played for Chicago from 2005-2007 and hit .253 for the Colorado Rockies last year. He became a free agent after the season, agreed to a minor league contract with the Rockies, then was released April 1. Wise is expected to miss six weeks after getting hurt while making a diving catch against the Tigers. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list, and Chicago replaced him on the active roster by purchasing the contract of Jerry Owens from Triple-A Charlotte. Owens last played regularly in the majors in 2007, hitting .267 with limited power for Chicago. He is expected to back up Brian Anderson, who was in the starting lineup before Tuesday's game against the Tigers was rained out. Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
