TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- George Steinbrenner returned to his office at the Yankees' spring training complex for the first time since New York won the World Series last week.

The 79-year-old owner spent more than three hours with family members and team officials looking back at the franchise's 27th title and discussing plans for the upcoming season. Also attending were son Hal Steinbrenner, who succeeded his father as managing general partner; daughters Jennifer Steinbrenner Swindal and Jessica Steinbrenner; and special assistant Tino Martinez.

Steinbrenner uses a wheelchair because of bad knees and has made few public appearances since turning over control of the team to Hal last November. Steinbrenner attended the first two games of the World Series but watched the Game 6 clincher from his home in Tampa.
