MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Kevin Love has been scheduled for surgery on his broken left hand.

Love will have the operation in New York on Tuesday to fix a fracture in the fourth metacarpal bone in his shooting hand. The second-year player suffered the injury on a rebound last Friday in a preseason game at Chicago.

The Timberwolves announced the news Monday. He's expected to be out at least six weeks.

Love averaged 11.1 points and 9.1 rebounds in 25.3 minutes per game last season. He led the NBA in offensive rebounding percentage, the first rookie in 24 years to do so since Hakeem Olajuwon.
