Maynor closing in on VCU record
Eric Maynor needs just 20 points to become VCU's all-time leading scorer
The senior is already the school's career leader in assists
HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) -- Eric Maynor is closing in on Virginia Commonwealth basketball history.
The senior point guard will go into Wednesday night's game at James Madison needing just 20 points to become the Rams' career scoring leader. Maynor trails only Kendrick Warren on the career list, and he's averaging better than 20 points this season.
Maynor is already the school's career leader in assists, and he also could become the first Rams player to total 2,000 points in his career before he's done. He'll start the game in Harrisonburg just 161 points off that milestone with at minimum three games remaining.
The Rams are 19-9 overall and 12-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association.
The Dukes come in at a surprising 18-11 and 9-7 in the conference.
