Three Kentucky players won't return to the team next season
A.J. Stewart is seeking to transfer and two other players won't return
John Calipari took over as the coach of Kentucky in April
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky announced Tuesday that sophomore forward A.J. Stewart is seeking a transfer and two other scholarship players will not return to the Wildcats.
Stewart sometimes provided a spark off the bench last year and was a consistent free throw shooter, but he averaged just two points and six minutes a game. Also seeking a transfer is freshman Donald Williams, who didn't play last year.
Besides those two underclassmen, the university confirmed center Jared Carter will not seek a fifth year of eligibility.
Carter had already gone through Senior Day but was considering asking the NCAA to extend his eligibility due to a shoulder injury that sidelined him most of the 2006-07 season. In 42 career games, he averaged one point and one rebound.
