BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- University of Colorado men's basketball coach Jeff Bzdelik has been called out of town for a family emergency and will miss his team's opener tonight.

Bzdelik is flying to the East Coast, the school said in a release.

Colorado opens the season Friday against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at the Coors Events Center.

Assistant Steve McClain will coach the team in Bzdelik's absence. It's not known if Bzdelik will be able to return in time for the Buffaloes' next game, against Coppin State on Monday night.

McClain coached at Wyoming from 1998-2007, where he averaged 18 victories a season.
