| Mavs-Raptors blockbuster in works? |
The Toronto Raptors have been looking for a small forward, and HOOPSWORLD has learned that they may have finally found their man. A deal being discussed would send troubled forward Josh Howard to the Raptors in a deal that would land Andrea Bargnani and Anthony Parker in Dallas, with a combination that could involve DeSagana Diop and Antoine Wright headed back to Toronto. | Browns to interview Eagles GM |
Despite the Eagles' resurgence, it still seems likely that general manager Tom Heckert will leave the team this offseason. A league source confirmed last night that Heckert will interview with the Cleveland Browns for their GM job, probably this weekend. The Browns had to ask permission to speak with Heckert, which the Eagles granted. Heckert, who came to the team in 2001 when Tom Modrak was forced out, carries the GM title with the Eagles but does not have final say in personnel matters. There was a time when the Eagles responded to other teams' interest in him by promoting him, but last offseason, they actively pushed the idea of Heckert's candidacy to run the Atlanta Falcons. | Cubs to restart Peavy talks |
The Cubs finished off the Jason Marquis-for-Luis Vizcaino trade with the Colorado Rockies as expected Tuesday. But will it look more like a Marquis-for-Jake Peavy deal by the time they open spring training next month? Those close to GM Jim Hendry expect him to restart the Peavy talks with the San Diego Padres that broke down a month ago at the winter meetings. If Hendry can't land Peavy, plenty of free-agent pitchers remain on the market, although Derek Lowe is pricing himself beyond reason. Productive innings-eaters such as Braden Looper and Tim Redding more likely would fit the Cubs' needs. (Chicago Sun Times)
