Auburn defensive back Powers opts for NFL draft

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- Defensive back Jerraud Powers has decided to forgo his senior season at Auburn and enter the NFL draft.

Auburn athletic officials announced Powers' decision in a statement Tuesday. Powers, a 5-foot-9, 191-pounder from Decatur, said he was thankful for his years at Auburn but felt the decision was best for him and his family.

A freshman all-SEC selection in 2006, he led the team with four interceptions and had 63 tackles in 2007 while starting all 13 games. This season he had 47 tackles and two interceptions while starting 10 games.
