COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri linebackers coach Dave Steckel is promoted to defensive coordinator, replacing the departed Matt Eberflus. The promotion came Tuesday. Steckel has been head coach Gary Pinkel's linebacker coach all eight seasons at Missouri. Eberflus, the defensive coordinator the past eight seasons, took a job as an assistant coach with the NFL's Cleveland Browns last month. Pinkel has had to replace both coordinators during the offseason, promoting from within in both cases. Dave Yost was named offensive coordinator to replace Dave Christensen, who was hired as Wyoming head coach. Pinkel also promoted Barry Odom to safeties coach after serving as director of football operations the past three season. Odom is a former Missouri linebacker. Copyright 2009 Associated Press.
