KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) -- Ben Lueken, a freshman football player at Kansas, is hospitalized with injuries sustained in a traffic incident earlier this week.

A spokesman at the University of Kansas Medical Center told said Wednesday that Lueken was in good condition and his injuries were not considered life-threatening. No details were available on the accident Sunday outside Jayhawker Towers, an on-campus apartment complex.

Lueken, of St. Louis, appeared in nine games last season and is expected to challenge for a starting spot on the offensive line next year. Hospital spokesman Dennis Minich said Lueken's father was with the athlete.

Lueken was admitted to a Lawrence hospital after the accident but transferred to the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
