AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- Gene Chizik is working under a letter of agreement more than five months after he was hired to be Auburn's head football coach. Auburn officials say they expect a formal agreement to be finalized soon. The university released a copy of Chizik's two-page letter of agreement Monday in response to open-records requests from the Press-Register in Mobile and other media outlets. The agreement states that Cizik will make $1.9 million a year for five years plus unspecified performance bonuses. Former head coach Tommy Tuberville was scheduled to make at least $3 million this year. Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
