Joe Jackson, a 5-foot-11 point guard from White Station High in Memphis, Tenn., is staying home for college, SI.com has learned.

On Sunday, he informed his grandmother, Lillie Cox, that he will join highly- touted wing Will Barton in the University of Memphis' first recruiting class under coach Josh Pastner. "I just like Josh's spirit," Cox told SI.com Friday morning. "Joe felt he had the best relationship with him."

Jackson previously considered Tennessee and Kansas, but will announce his decision at the Larry O. Finch center on the Memphis campus Friday night, where his high school team practices.

Cox, who hosted Pastner and his staff for an in-home visit Wednesday, said Jackson has not taken the ACT yet, but intends on taking in the winter.
