BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- He's not only tall, he's a top prospect. And now rookie Tyler Myers is on the team. After a stellar 2008-09 season at Kelowna, where he led the Rockets to the WHL championship and was named the league's playoff MVP, Myers, Buffalo's top pick in the 2008 draft (12th overall), is on the Sabres' 23-man roster that was announced on Wednesday afternoon. "I came into camp telling myself that I'm going to compete as hard as I can for a spot on the team," Myers said. Myers, 19, signed a three-year entry level contract in May, and under NHL rules, the first year won't kick in until he plays his 10th NHL game this season. At 6-foot-8, Myers is an inch shorter than Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara, who is the NHL's tallest player. Coyotes claim BissonnetteGLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- The Phoenix Coyotes have claimed Paul Bissonnette off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins. The 24-year-old forward appeared in 15 games with Pittsburgh last season, with one assist and 15 penalty minutes. He played in 57 games for Wilkes-Barre, the Penguins' affiliate in the American Hockey League. The Coyotes also signed forward Matt Watkins to an entry level contract. Terms weren't disclosed. Watkins, who recently completed his senior season at the University of North Dakota, has been assigned to Phoenix's AHL affiliate in San Antonio. Capitals set rosterARLINGTON, Va. The Capitals recalled left wing Boyd Kane from the Hershey Bears of the AHL on Wednesday and assigned goaltender Michal Neuvirth (NOY-vihrt) to the Bears. The team lost an expected contributor when left wing Chris Bourque was claimed on waivers by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Right wing Eric Fehr and left wing Tomas Fleischmann will open the season on injured reserve.
