Kopitar, Cammalleri, Marleau are Stars of Week

NEW YORK (Oct. 26, 2009) -- Center Anze Kopitar of the Los Angeles Kings, Montreal Canadiens left wing Mike Cammalleri and center Patrick Marleau of the San Jose Sharks are the NHL's Three Stars for the week ending Oct. 25.

FIRST STAR -- Anze Kopitar

Kopitar led all scorers \with nine points (six goals, three assists) as the Kings (8-4-0) won four games in a row and grabbed first place in the Pacific Division. He scored once in a 4-1 win over Dallas on Oct. 19, had the first hat trick of his career in a 5-4 OT win over Dallas on Oct. 22, was credited with three assists in a 5-3 win over Phoenix on Oct. 24, and scored twice in a 6-2 win over Columbus on Oct. 25. The 22-year-old center now leads the NHL in goals (10) and points (21) after 12 games.

SECOND STAR -- Mike Cammalleri

Cammalleri produced six points (four goals, two assists) as the Canadiens (5-5-0) went on a three-game win streak. He had an assist in a 2-1 shootout win over Atlanta on Oct. 20, scored once in a 5-1 victory over the New York Islanders on Oct. 22, and was credited with an assist and a hat trick, including the winner in overtime, a 4-3 victory over the New York Rangers on Oct. 24. He is Montreal's leading scorer (five goals, six assists, 11 points) after 10 games.

THIRD STAR -- Patrick Marleau

Marleau had nine points (three goals, six assists) and three multi-point games that began with a goal and two assists in a 7-3 win over the Rangers on Oct. 19. He had an assist in a 5-2 loss to Tampa Bay on Oct. 22 and scored twice, including the winner, while earning an assist in a 4-3 win over Atlanta on Oct. 24. He extended his point streak to five games with two assists in a 4-1 win over Philadelphia on Oct. 25. Marleau is now the Sharks' second-leading scorer (nine goals, seven assists) after 12 games.
