NEW YORK (SI.com) -- UFC champ to ... new Mr. T?

According to UK newspaper The Sun, former UFC light heavyweight champ Quinton "Rampage" Jackson is set to play the role of B.A. Baracus, made famous by Laurence "Mr. T." Tureaud, in the upcoming remake of The A-Team.

Rampage was scheduled to face off with fellow Ultimate Fighter 10 coach Rashad Evans at UFC 107 in October, but the bout has allegedly been scrapped so Jackson can focus on filming. The original main event is said to have been replaced with lightweight champion B.J. Penn's tilt with Diego Sanchez.

Merely a rumor? Last time we checked in with Jackson's camp, the A-Team reports were denied, and Penn-Sanchez has been reported as the co-main event at UFC 107. But it's not hard to imagine Jackson, who has already appeared in several smaller roles, as the modern-day B.A. Baracus. And with the rapid growth of MMA and the UFC, some of the promotion's top fighters have landed movie and TV roles, most notably Randy Couture.

Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper have been confirmed as fellow actors on the series. Nelson is set to play Hannibal, while Cooper, of the series Nip/Tuck and blockbuster film The Hangover, will place Face.

Rampage beat out rappers 50 Cent and The Game after multiple weeks of auditions.

The A-Team is due out next year.
