LAVAL, Que. - A Quebec judge has acquitted former boxing champion Dave Hilton Jr. of three new charges he was facing.

Hilton, 45, appeared in court briefly today on charges of sexual assault, assault and assault causing bodily harm against a woman.

The alleged victim in the case then dropped her complaint and a judge in Laval, north of Montreal, acquitted Hilton after ruling the evidence against him was non-existent.

Hilton was ordered to sign a document agreeing to keep the peace for the next year.

Police had said the alleged assaults on the woman took place between September and November of last year.

Hilton has been living in a halfway house since last summer but has been able to sign out periodically.
