NJ City soccer ends 111-game conference winless streak |
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) -- The New Jersey City women's soccer team has ended a 111-game conference winless streak, getting three goals from Julia Caseres in a 5-1 win over Rutgers-Newark. Saturday's victory was NJCU's first in the New Jersey Athletic Conference since a 3-2 win over Montclair State on Oct. 6, 1994. NJCU did manage a 1-1 tie against Ramapo in 1995, but had since lost 103 straight conference games. NJCU has had success against nonconference opponents, but had been stymied in the Division III NJAC. NJCU improved to 7-4 overall (1-2 NJAC) and Rutgers-Newark fell to 4-6 (0-3 NJAC).
