
Rome to host 2011 beach volleyball championships |
LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) -- Rome will host the next beach volleyball world championships in 2011. The International Volleyball Federation said Saturday that the two-yearly event will be staged at the Foro Italico from June 17-26. Play will begin less than a year after the men's volleyball worlds is held in 10 cities across Italy in September 2010. The last beach volleyball worlds was staged in June in Stavanger, Norway. Germany's Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann won the men's event, and April Ross and Jennifer Kessy of the United States took the women's gold. Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
