Galaxy reportedly interested in Spain's Helguera
Spanish daily Marca reports the Los Angeles Galaxy are interested in former Valencia center back Ivan Helguera.
Having severed ties with Valencia, Helguera is free to find a new club.
The former Real Madrid man has been linked with a switch to AC Milan in the winter transfer window, but in fact he may be heading somewhere a bit further afield -- if the latest reports out of Spain are to be believed.
Marca contends that the versatile 33-year-old, who can play as center back or defensive midfielder, is on Los Angeles' radar. Helguera played against the Galaxy back in 2005 in an exhibition when he and David Beckham played for Real Madrid.
The Cantabrian stopper's stock has been steadily decreasing in Spain of late after he fell out of favor at the Mestalla, but a move to the U.S. could prove an ideal way for him to get his career back on track.
That said, there is allegedly interest from an unnamed English Premier League side as well in the ex-Roma defender.
