'Bofo' says he could join MLS team this summer

By Andrea Canales, Special to SI.com, Goal.com

A premier star in Mexico, Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista is considering a summer move to Major League Soccer, according to a report in mediotiempo.com. The forward currently plays with Jaguares in Mexico's Primera Division.

"They haven't renewed my contract," Bautista said. "I only have two or three months left. I may go abroad or to the United States. I've got to wait and see if there are more proposals, but once the renewal didn't happen in January, it's more difficult for it to happen now."

The forward with the punk-blond hair has long been a favorite with fans due to his creative goal-scoring abilities and outgoing personality.

Bautista has featured at various points with the Mexican national team, though not as a steady regular.

A move to Chivas USA might seem ideal, as Bautista reached great fame with the brand in Mexico. During his time in Guadalajara, Bautista sometimes played with the team logo shaved and dyed into his hairstyle.

Fans of the player may have to wait until summer to see such a move materialize. Other than considering the options, Bautista indicated that he was in no hurry to finalize a decision at this time.

"There's possibilities abroad, in MLS, but in the meanwhile, I'm going to concentrate 100 percent on the team and we'll see later what happens," he said.
