Fulham reportedly moving on defender Onyewu

By David Kifford, Special to SI.com, Goal.com

Oguchi Onyewu may well be on the move to the Craven Cottage this summer after Fulham emerged as possible suitors for the American defender.

The player's agent has denied that an agreement has been struck with Birmingham City, and reports from Sky Sports suggest the defender may now be set for a move to Fulham.

Newly promoted Premier League club Birmingham was keen to add the 27-year-old to its squad, but the London club is now the favorite.

The Cottagers superb improvement under Roy Hodgson last season means they can offer Onyewu European football. Hodgson is keen to increase his squad size before Fulham begins its Europa League campaign.

The U.S. international has previous experience in England, where he enjoyed a brief loan spell with Newcastle United, and is available on a free transfer as his contract with Belgian side Standard Liege has expired.
