Beckham will look for another extended loan deal to AC Milan

HOBOKEN, N.J. (Goal.com) -- David Beckham's loan to AC Milan during the most recent Major League Soccer offseason was wrapped up in controversy when it was revealed that his handlers had negotiated the deal with the Serie A giants without the knowledge of his contracted club, the Los Angeles Galaxy.

There will be no such controversy next time around. The day before he is due to return to the field for the Galaxy, Beckham suggested he will be looking for a similarly long loan next offseason, as he attempts to make the England squad for the World Cup.

This will mean he will miss half of the 2010 season, just as he has missed a large portion of this year after the loan to Milan was extended through the end of the Serie A season.

"I think it would have to be, obviously, leading up to the World Cup," Beckham said during a press conference on Thursday when asked by Goal.com if he would go on an extended loan similar to the Milan one this year. "But with the last loan, it worked out pretty well. I'm not going to say it was ideal or it was perfect. At the end of the day it was great for myself, but for the Galaxy and the guys, it's tough when you lose any player."

Beckham joins the Galaxy at a time when the club is on a roll, winners of three straight games and firmly in the playoff picture.

There are still questions, in the light of the recent reports of Beckham's constant tension with teammate Landon Donovan, whether Beckham will be able to integrate into the team and whether the team will accept him.

"When people talk about 'Is it good for players to come in halfway through the season?', it happens all over the world," Beckham said. "It happens where players do come into new teams, where teams buy players in transfer windows. It's more of a positive than a negative."
