Bravo returns from Spain to sign with Chivas

A year after leaving Chivas de Guadalajara, Omar Bravo is back.

His stint with Spanish team Deportivo La Coruña gave Bravo little playing time and eventually led to his absence from the team's plans. Club president Augusto Ruben Perez traveled to Mexico to try and transfer Bravo back to a Mexican team during the draft, but there were no concrete offers.

Previously, Chivas owner Jorge Vergara had said that there would be no new additions to the squad for the Apertura 2009 season.

It was Deportivo that first made the news public when it announced on its Web site that Omar Bravo was let go, and that negotiations would begin with the Mexican club. A few hours later, Chivas received the official transfer players for its former player.

On Thursday evening, Chivas released a statement on the official club Web site about the re-acquisition of the player:

"Club Deportivo Guadalajara S.A. de C.V informs that from this day forward, Mr. Omar Bravo Tordecillas, former player of Club Deportivo La Coruña, will arrive to the institution as a reinforcement for the team of the Primera Division for the seasons of the Apertura 2009 and Clausura 2010."
