Red Bulls sign Argentine defender Garcia

The New York Red Bulls have signed Walter Garcia, an Argentinian defender. The 25-year-old joins from Quilmes Atlético Club of the Argentinean Second Division and has played for the Argentina Under-20 squad.

"We have been interested in bringing Walter into the club since the beginning of the year," said New York sporting director Jeff Agoos in a statement. "We're excited to have him on board and will use the remainder of the season to evaluate him."

New York is currently mired in a six-game losing streak and a 15-match winless run in Major League Soccer play. By now it's just a matter of building for next season, with the playoffs seemingly beyond the team with the worst record in MLS.
