Banfield, Argentine Juniors get Apertura wins

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) -- James Rodriguez hit a powerful strike from outside the area in the second half to lift Banfield to a 2-1 victory over Newell's Old Boys in the sixth-round of the Argentina Apertura football tournament Friday.

In Friday's other match, Gabriel Hauche scored a hat trick to lead Argentine Juniors to a 4-2 win over Godoy Cruz. Ismael Sosa added the other for Juniors.

Rodriguez scored in the winner for Banfield in the 72nd minute with a shot from the left side of the area.

Newell's took a 1-0 lead in the 65th when Cristian Sanchez Prette found the net, but Banfield equalized two minutes later with a penalty from Santiago Silva.

In matches Saturday and Sunday, it's: Racing vs. Independiente; Tigre vs. San Lorenzo; River vs. Gimnasia; Chacarita vs. Arsenal; Central vs. Colon; Atletico Tucuman vs. Lanus; Estudiantes vs Boca; Velez vs Huracan.
