BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) -- Santiago Silva scored from a penalty late in the second half as Banfield salvaged a 1-1 home draw against Atletico Tucuman in round eight of Argentina's Apertura tournament on Wednesday.

In the day's other matches, Tigre pulled two goals back in the second half to draw 2-2 with Huracan and Godoy Cruz drew 1-1 with Newell's Old Boys.

Because of international fixtures at the weekend, the remaining matches of the eighth round of the Argentine league continue on Thursday, Friday and Monday.

Uruguayan striker Silva scored his seventh goal of the tournament from the penalty spot in the 75th minute to move Banfield level on points with early leader Estudiantes.

Luis Rodriguez had opened the scoring for Tucuman with a lob lifted over Banfield goalkeeper Cristian Lucchetti in the 29th minute.

Earlier in the day, Huracan raced into a 2-0 lead over Tigre with goals from Lucas Trecarichi in the 13th minute and Rodrigo Diaz in the 22nd.

Tigre had lost six games in a row going into the match but recovered in the second half to take a share of the points.

Carlos Luna began the fightback, applying the finishing touch to an incisive Tigre attack in the 72nd minute and Rodolfo Arruabarrena headed the equalizer from a deep free kick in the 85th.

The day's final match between Godoy Cruz and Newell's Old Boys also ended in a draw. Mauro Formica scored in the 17th minute to give Newell's the lead, but Leandro Torres leveled in the 46th.
