
Palmeiras keeps Brazilian league lead despite loss |
BRASILIA, Brazil (AP) -- Serbian midfielder Dejan Petkovic scored either side of halftime as Palmeiras lost 2-0 to Flamengo on Sunday but still maintained the Brazilian league lead. Flamengo dominated the match with Petkovic finding the net in the 23rd and 61st minutes, while Wagner Love missed a late penalty for Palmeiras. Palmerias leads the Brazilian standings with 54 points, followed by Atletico Mineiro on 50, Internacional and Sao Paulo with 49, Flamengo with 48, Goias on 46 and Cruzeiro at 45. In other results on Sunday it was: Fluminense 2, Internacional 2; Sport 2, Corinthians 0; Gremio 2, Coritba 0; Cruzeiro 1, Botafogo 0; Vitoria 3, Nautico 1; Atletico Paranaense 3, Santo Andre 0.
