
Twente beats Willem II 3-1 to keep Dutch league lead |
![]() ![]() ![]() AMSTERDAM (AP) -- FC Twente extended its unbeaten Dutch league streak to 15 games Saturday with a 3-1 win over Willem II to stay top of the standings. Defender Wout Bouma put Steve McClaren's side ahead after eight minutes off an assist by Miroslav Stoch but Christophe Gregoire leveled in the 15th. Twente regained the lead off Stoch's goal in the 35th and Bryan Ruiz added another goal in the 69th. Twente has 41 points, two more than PSV Eindhoven, which also kept its unbeaten start to the season with a 3-2 win at Sparta Rotterdam on Friday. Ajax, which is at Vitesse Arnhem on Sunday, is third with 32, seven more than Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar. Jeremain Lens and Brett Holman grabbed a goal each for AZ in the defending champion's 2-0 win over VVV-Venlo. VVV had substitute Sjors Verdellen sent off in the 83rd. Also Saturday, Everton, Bas Dost and Willy Overtoom each scored to lead Heracles Almelo to a 3-2 win over Roda JC. Mads Junker and Pa Modou Kah scored late goals for Roda.
