Larsson in Sweden squad against Portugal |
STOCKHOLM (AP) -Veteran striker Henrik Larsson was included in Sweden's 23-man squad for next week's World Cup qualifier against Portugal. Larsson will likely spearhead Sweden's attack in the March 28 game in Porto, as Inter Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is suspended. Ibrahimovic picked up his second yellow card of the qualifying campaign against Portugal in Stockholm last year. Galatasaray midfielder Tobias Linderoth and Malmo midfielder Daniel Andersson are also out with injuries. Larsson returned to international play for last year's European Championship, but struggled with a thigh injury toward the end of the year. However, the former FC Barcelona and Celtic player decided in February he would play another season with Swedish team Helsingborg. Sweden is fifth in Group 1 of European qualifying with five points after three games. Portugal also has five points after four games, two points behind leader Denmark. Sweden also plays Serbia in a friendly on April 1. --- Squad: Goalkeepers: Andreas Isaksson (PSV Eindhoven), Eddie Gustafsson (Salzburg), Johan Wiland (FC Copenhagen) Defenders: Erik Edman (Wigan), Andreas Granqvist (Groningen), Petter Hansson (Rennes), Adam Johansson (IFK Goteborg), Daniel Majstorovic (AEK Athens), Olof Mellberg (Juventus), Mikael Nilsson (Panathinaikos), Behrang Safari (Basel).
