Boyd gives Rangers 2-1 win over St. Mirren

GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) -Two goals from Kris Boyd gave Rangers a 2-1 victory against St. Mirren on Saturday in the Scottish Premier League.

Boyd gave Rangers the lead in the first minute of the game with his sixth goal of the season, after Mirren goalkeeper had saved John Fleck's shot.

Boyd added his second in the 57th. The striker scored from close range following good approach play from Nacho Novo and DaMarcus Beasley.

Stephen O Donnell's scored a late consolation goal for St. Mirren.

Rangers is now one point behind league leader Celtic, which plays Falkirk on Sunday.

Also Saturday, Hibernian and Hearts drew 0-0 in the Edinburgh derby; Aberdeen beat St. Johnstone 2-1; Hamilton and Motherwell drew 2-2 and Dundee United won at Kilmarnock 2-1.
