ATHENS, Greece (AP) -Costas Mitroglou scored both goals Sunday to give Olympiakos a 2-0 victory over rival Panathinaikos and the lead in the Greek league standings.

Mitroglou put Olympiakos ahead in first-half injury time with a shot from close range, and then added the second in the 54th by converting a cross from Jaouad Zairi.

The win puts the defending champion one point ahead of Panathinaikos, with 30 points from 12 games.

Olympiakos had the first good scoring chance in the ninth minute when a powerful shot by Italian midfielder Enzo Maresca forced goalkeeper Alexandros Tzorvas to palm the ball away.

In the 30th, it was Panathinaikos' turn to squander a chance when a shot by Dimitris Salpingidis grazed Antonis Nikopolidis' crossbar.

Four minutes later, Nikopolidis pushed a blistering shot by Loukas Vyntra over the bar.

Panathinaikos came close to narrowing the gap through Djibril Cisse in the 65th, but Nikopolidis saved the shot with an extended arm.

Also Sunday it was: Larissa 1, Kavala 0; Panthrakikos 0, Levadiakos 2; Aris 1, Panionios 1 and Atromitos 2, Giannena 1.
