The purpose of the inaugural Citizen Watch Heisman, determined by fan ballots submitted via Twitter, was to give readers of The Watch a chance to voice their choice for the Heisman Trophy. In that sense, the Citizen Watch was a rousing success, as 340 people Tweeted their vote. On those ballots, 27 different players received votes.

The voting and the results, however, also provided an interesting look at why Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh faces a challenge in his quest to break the Heisman's history of favoring offensive players.

While Suh, buoyed by a late groundswell of support after his dominant game against Texas, received the most first-place votes (138), he was also left off 140 ballots and thus finished second in the balloting to Stanford running back Toby Gerhart.

The voting for the real trophy could very well go the same way, with Suh receiving many first place votes but getting shut out by those who buy into the belief that the Heisman is for offensive players only.
