THE BOTTOM 10
The Week's Worst In Sports

OAKLAND A'S
Do they know the way to San Jose -- or Sacramento, or Vegas or ...?

Owner Lew Wolff pulled the plug on plans to relocate his struggling franchise to Fremont, Calif., 20 miles south of Oakland (in part due to local protests against a proposed $500 million stadium), and is now searching for another possible home.

BOSTON CELTICS BACKCOURT
As Bob Cousy squirmed uncomfortably in his chair

With human storm cloud Stephon Marbury due soon to supposedly shore up the reserve corps, Gabe Pruitt, another Boston backup backcourtman, publicly apologized for being arrested on a misdemeanor DUI charge in Los Angeles after a game against the Clippers.

NUTMEG STATE POLS
Speaking of "embarrassing," isn't Joe Lieberman from your state?

The two Democratic leaders of the Connecticut General Assembly's higher-education committee called for UConn to reprimand basketball coach Jim Calhoun for his heated reaction to a grand-standing press-conference question about his salary. That followed comments by Gov. M. Jodi Rell, a Republican, that Calhoun's comments were an "embarrassing display" and that he would "welcome a do-over."

JIM BUNNING
Speaking of do-overs, is there any way I can go back and not root for this guy during his Father's Day perfect game in 1964?

The Hall of Fame pitcher, Kentucky's junior senator and a joke even to many conservative Republicans, sounded almost gleeful when he described Ruth Bader Ginsburg's medical condition at a political gathering as "bad cancer, the kind that you don't get better from," and added that "Even though she was operated on, usually nine months is the longest that anybody would live ..."

BLUEGRASS STATE HOOP FANS
This is what happens when you keep voting in Bunning

Vitamin Water is reportedly producing a commercial, to run during NCAA tournament time, that features ex-Kentucky coach Rick Pitino being dogged by Duke's Christian Laettner, who hit college basketball's most famous shot to keep the Wildcats from advancing in 1992.

ACC BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
Talk about needing a stimulus package ...

For the first time since 1966, the event is not sold out and has made seating packages at the Georgia Dome available to the general public.

RASHEED WALLACE
Sure to follow: Testimonials from the Pistons of what a great team player he is ... when he's not, like, throwing towels, drawing technicals and getting tossed out of close games

With a contest still in doubt against New Orleans, the Pistons bedlam-making forward was whistled for a technical foul, reacted to his subsequent benching by swatting a ballboy's towel into the stands, got another technical for that, then threw another towel onto the court. Detroit went on to lose.

INDY CAR SERIES
Most Americans know him as the Dancing with the Stars champion, but he can drive a little, too

The first day of testing for the 2009 season began without the sport's brightest light and sunniest personality, two-time Indy winner Helio Castroneves, who is preparing to go to trial on federal tax evasion charges that could bring him a 30-year sentence.

PROFESSIONAL POKER
You mean there's a seedy side to this sport?

A week after one of its ranks, Zachary Carter King, was caught attempting to sell on eBay the bong that nabbed Michael Phelps -- he was asking $100,000 -- another player, Ernest Scherer III, was arrested and charged with the murder of his parents, reportedly because he is in deep financial trouble and needed the inheritance.

THE 73-YEAR-OLD BASKETBALL PLAYER
I don't want to hear excuses! Pick yourself up and do something with your life! You've got a lot of years left to turn yourself around ... all right, maybe not that many

Ken Mink, who walked on at Roane State College and saw a few minutes of action this season as the nation's oldest intercollegiate athlete, was declared ineligible after he failed Spanish, then blamed the administration for not sorting out his transfer to another class.

This Week's Most Captivating Blog Entry

"Im freaking tired of rehab even though i know i need i just want to be out there and not have to worry about anything i have went through this for too long. Im gonna have to suck it up quick cause the end of the reagular season is coming to a end quick. On another note im watching MTV's America's Best Dance Crew and Qwest Crew better win they're sick!"
