All year, the talk in South Carolina has been about the Brynes duo of Marcus Lattimore and Brandon Willis. Now, the Palmetto State is seeing another star rising in Irmo High's Mustafa Greene.

The senior running back has rushed for 984 yards and 18 touchdowns to lead Irmo to a 6-1 start. Recruiters have taken notice and Greene's list of schools includes Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia. He won't make a decision until after he takes his official visits. Right now, Greene, a native New Yorker who moved to South Carolina in middle school, only has a trip to Rutgers planned for December.

"They say that I can come in and make an impact right away," Greene said of Rutgers. "They've been showing me the most love."

The 6-foot tailback is likely to plan official visits with North Carolina State, Maryland, South Carolina and Clemson.

Though he's made his name carrying the ball, Greene said that he is intrigued by playing defense in college, preferably in the secondary, which he hasn't played since middle school.

"At Irmo, we have so many players that our coach doesn't want us to play both ways," Greene said. "I think about it though. I really love hitting people."
