More Maria Kirilenko Maria Kirilenko, 22, was born in Moscow, and started playing tennis when she was 5-years-old. She tore through the junior ranks, and is one of the youngest winners of both the Canadian Open and the U.S. Open Junior tournament. Since turning pro in 2002, Kirilenko has won five Sony Ericsson WTA titles, and been ranked as high as No. 18.
