Diamondbacks tap Towers as new GM |


Kevin Towers, the former Padres general manager, has been hired as Diamondbacks GM, and an announcement will come today.
He is getting a two-year deal with two different club options.
The organization has asked interim GM Jerry Di Poto, who is being displaced by Towers, to stay on.
In 14 seasons as the Padres general manager, Towers' clubs reached the playoffs four times. He spent this season as a consultant for the Yankees.
