The Yankees and Joe Girardi are beginning contract talks Monday that are expected to keep Girardi as manager an additional three years.

Girardi's new deal is expected to pay him about $3 million a year, according to sources. Girardi makes significant off-field monies, including from Taco Bell.

There had been speculation about Girardi and the Cubs, but they filled their managerial opening by giving interim Mike Quade a two-year deal.

Girardi's first Yankees deal paid him about $7.5 million over three years. This one is expected to be for between $9 million and $10 million. Talks are not expected to take long.

Yankees icons Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera are free agents whose negotiations are expected to take longer -- though both are seen as extremely likely to return to the Yankees.
