The Yankees tried for White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper but the Sox declined New York's request to speak with him about a position. It appears Cooper, who has a year to go on his contract with the White Sox, may in fact have headed the Yankees' list to replace Dave Eiland.

The Yankees have a meeting planned with A's minor league pitching coordinator Gil Patterson, the New York Post reported.
