Hornets pressing Thibodeau for answer right now
The Hornets want an answer from Celtics assistant Tom Thibodeau by Thursday
Otherwise, sources say, they will focus on Blazers assistant Monty Williams
Thibodeau is said to prefer the New Jersey and Chicago jobs over New Orleans
Thibodeau, who has never been an NBA head coach, is said to be enthralled with the Nets opening and to prefer New Jersey and Chicago over New Orleans.
But multiple sources also believe Thibodeau is very interested in taking over the Celtics should Doc Rivers elect to leave the team after this season.
While it is unclear how significant the Bulls' interest is in the longtime assistant, two sources have told SI.com that the Nets are serious about Thibodeau for their vacant head coaching position.
The Hornets, however, are not willing to wait. An accomplished defensive coach, Thibodeau would appear to be a solid fit for a team that finished 21st in the NBA in points allowed (102.7 per game) and 13th in defensive field goal percentage (46.4 percent).
Regardless of who coaches, the Hornets are likely going to continue to be a heavy pick-and-roll team offensively, with annual MVP candidate Chris Paul highly effective running that style of offense.
