![]() ![]() ![]() The Falcons have decided not to renew the contract of longtime assistant coach Emmitt Thomas, according to a league source. Thomas, a Hall of Fame cornerback who was promoted to assistant head coach/secondary before the 2008 season, worked under four coaches during his eight seasons in Atlanta. He was let go because the defensive backfield struggled against the pass for the second year in a row. It ranked 28th this season, allowing an average of 241.9 yards a game. The year before the Falcons ranked 21st against the pass, surrendering an average of 220.4 yards a game. Thomas is the only assistant who was not brought back. ![]() | ![]() More NFL
