HONOLULU (AP) -A memorial service for late surfing champion Andy Irons is scheduled for Nov. 14 on his home island of Kauai.

The 32-year-old Irons was found dead in his Dallas-area hotel Tuesday. The cause of death is being investigated.

The service will take place at Hanalei Bay near where Irons grew up and lived. It will include an honorary paddle-out into the ocean to pay tribute to his legacy.

Irons was in Texas while on a layover en route back home. He was returning from Puerto Rico, where he was supposed to compete in the 2010 Rip Curl Pro Search. However, he withdrew Sunday, telling tournament organizers he had become ill during an event in Portugal.

Irons won world championships in 2002, '03 and '04.
