SHANGHAI, China (AP) -- Roger Federer is ready to add Mandarin to the four languages he already speaks.
Federer is in China for the Shanghai Masters tournament. He's using his free time to take a lesson in Mandarin.
The third-ranked Swiss player also speaks German, French and English. Federer admitted he found it "hard'' but thought he showed persistence.
The 16-time Grand Slam winner added it was "fun'' and he "likes languages in general.''
Federer traveled to China without his wife Mirka and one-year-old twin daughters.
