YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) -- Eastern Michigan men's basketball coach Charles Ramsey has been fired after six seasons.
The Ypsilanti school made the announcement on Wednesday.
Ramsey compiled a 68-118 record with the Eagles, including a 37-62 mark in the Mid-American Conference. Eastern was 9-22 overall and 5-11 in the MAC in 2010-11.
Athletic director Derrick Gragg says a search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
Gragg says that "after thorough and extensive review," he decided it was "in the best interests of the Eastern Michigan University men's basketball program to change direction."
Ramsey will be paid $176,416, the balance of the remaining one year on his contract.
