LONDON (AP) - Danish cyclist Alex Rasmussen has been fired by the HTC-Highroad team over missed doping tests.

Rasmussen has also been suspended by Denmark's cycling federation and will be prevented from competing in next week's world road cycling championship.

Denmark's Cycling Union says Rasmussen has missed three tests in the last 18 months and received two warnings from the country's anti-doping agency and one from cycling's governing body, the UCI.

HTC-Highroad says in a statement from San Luis Obispo, Calif., that two of those tests were missed before he joined the team in 2010 and the club did not know about them.

The team says Rasmussen's contract "has been terminated with immediate effect for breach of the team's code of conduct.''
