As 2011 winds down, it's time to look back at the year's biggest sports stories. Some may remember 2011 as the year of the
NBA
and
NFL
lockouts, or the year the
Cardinals came from nowhere to win the World Series. Hockey fans may look at 2011 as the year the
Bruins finally captured another Stanley Cup.
Those who love records may look fondly on Saints quarterback
Drew Brees breaking Dan Marino's passing record or
Mike Krzyzewski reaching the all-time wins record in college hoops. For me, however, nothing topped the revelation that
Sarah Palin and Glen Rice allegedly had a one-night stand in 1987. The alleged tryst took place in the dorm room of Palin's younger sister while Rice, a junior at Michigan, was in town for the Great Alaska Shootout. Here's a look back at some other
notable pop culture and sports moments of the year.
